The Expendables 3- -
Barney, Christmas and the rest of the team comes face-to-face with Conrad Stonebanks, who years ago co-founded The Expendables with Barney. Stonebanks, who eluded death once before, now is making it his mission to end The Expendables -- but Barney has other plans. Barney decides that he has to fight old blood with new blood, and brings in a new era of Expendables team members, recruiting individuals who are younger, faster and more tech-savvy. The latest mission becomes a clash of classic old-school style versus high-tech expertise in the Expendables’ most personal battle yet.

The Expendables 3 is the third attempt to resurrect the team of ragtag heroes, and Sylvester Stallone is here to lead them once again. This time they meet up with Conrad Stonebanks, who with the help of Barney (Stallone), founded the Expendables many years ago. Only now the tides are turned and Stonebanks is now a ruthless arms trader. This is a great actions flick, but this Parental Guide to the movies thinks that it might not be the best movie for the whole family.
The plot is simple, but it is punctuated by explosions and too many bullets to count. Stallone was forced to kill Stonebanks many years ago, but what he did not know is that he failed in his mission. Stonebanks is back and he wants The Expendables dead so that he can continue his arms trading without any more worries. Stonebanks and Barney are in a battle, and they are playing for keeps. This time Barney recruits a group of men who are younger, faster, and who know their way around technology. The plot revolves around the clash between old school fighting versus technology.
The MPAA rated his movie PG-13 for language, intense sustained gun battles, and fight scenes. The language content goes beyond a little foul language, it is continual throughout the movie. However, they forgot to mention the smoking, drinking at bars, and intense MMA style street fighting. A little cleavage is shown and some women wear tight outfits. There is a good amount of blood in the movie. You do not actually see anyone die in the explosions, but it is understood that people are in the vicinity when they occur, implying that they were killed. The fight scenes in the movie are bloody and rough. The worst fight scene is the final battle at the end of the movie.
The Expendables 3 is similar to the previous two Expendables movies, only this one may be the roughest yet. Stallone definitely did not pull any punches in this one. They all connected and there was much blood and violence to be had by all. It is up to everyone to make their own decision about what is right for their family. In the opinion of this family movie review, this one is not a good choice for a fun family weekend.
