Just when I was beginning to think that Hollywood had no more original plots in them, along comes The Big Year. This move guide was quite surprised by the concept of this movie. It is a film about the sport of, dare I say it, bird watching. Right now you think that I am kidding, I know it. This family guide to the movies could hardly believe it either. This film is about bird watching. Letäó»s clarify this.

The Big Year tells the story of two birdwatchers who compete to gain the prime viewing spot of the rare bird. This family movie review found it hard to believe. But it is true; it is a movie about bird watching. As far as film reviews are concerned this was one of the most original that has come out in a long time. It could be classified as an adventure/comedy.

Two men who are close to retirement go on a journey to fulfill their dreams before they die. This movie is just plain old family fun. It might not be as interesting to the kids as it will be to the adults, but there are still lots of laughs to be had by them. You do not have to be a fan of bird watching to enjoy this movie.

According to Parental Guide movie ratings for families, this movie has some strong language and sensuality that might not be appropriate for those below the pre-teen years. For this movie, it might be better to leave the smallest members of the family with a sitter. Your preteens and early teens will be likely to enjoy this film.

One of the most interesting features of this movie is that it shines a spotlight on an activity of which many know nothing about. This movie might spark a new entrance into the hobby of bird watching. It is entirely possible that your kids might have never heard of the hobby of bird watching. After seeing this film, they might decide to take it up themselvesäó_ or maybe you will be the one to be hooked.
