The movie is fast paced, full of betrayals and political references and includes sword fights and violence, but little gore. At the end of the adventure, there are no big surprises. There will be justice, sacrifice, and maybe just a little romance.
Dasten (Jake Gyllenhaal) is plucked from life on the streets by King Sharaman and is raised as a prince. As an adult, Dasten is blamed for his fatheräó»s death and he flees with Princess Tamina (Gemma Asterton). Dasten is a likable character, who scales walls using arrows and saves damsels in distress. Tamina, is not a damsel in distress and is the guardian of a supernatural dagger that can turn back time and change history. She wants the dagger, he wants the dagger and they struggle to take it from each other, all the while keeping the dagger from the villain chasing them.
Much like a video game, the movie moves from game level to level as the adventure plays out.
