Life is normal on a small island of the New England coast, perhaps a little too normal. Sam and Suzie decide to shake things up a little when they decide to run away with each other. Now, every faction of this community suspended in time must mobilize to find them. This family movie guide thinks that Bruce Willis and Bill Murray make an unusual pair in this nonstop comedy adventure, Moonrise Kingdom.

The best words to describe the Moonrise Kingdom movie are cute and creative. This young adventure focuses on young love and the misadventures of the young as they explore their first taste of sexuality. The Moonrise Kingdom movie was rated a PG-13 for sexual content. Although the sexual content between these preteen lovers is only suggested, it is still an underlying theme. There is one scene where both are scantily clad in bathing suits dancing at the beach. It also contains smoking according to the MPAA. However, the MPAA forgot to mention suggested drinking by the father of the girl.

The theme of the Moonrise Kingdom movie suggests that it may be inappropriate for some audiences. Although the rating is a PG-13, the ages of the main characters suggest that it was intended for audiences much younger. The main characters are in the under 12 range. It is unlikely that a 13 year old would still be interested in the content of the movie. Moonrise Kingdom movie was rated a PG-13 for content, but was intended for those younger than that. This may be confusing, but this family movie review feels that this is exactly the case. This can make the decision of whether to see the movie or not a difficult choice.

Moonrise Kingdom movie comedy is based on the entire town being deputized to help locate the missing children. The two young lovers have no intention of being found and go to great lengths to remain missing in action. The actions of adults are portrayed as anti-heroic misadventures and the runaway children are portrayed as the heroes. Some children might get the wrong idea about the impact of running away äóìfor funäó. Only you know if your children fall into this category or not.

As far as appropriate for all audiences, this one is questionable. The theme of the Moonrise Kingdom movie may teach some things that you might not want your kids to become aware of just yet. The adults in the movie are funny because they have absolutely no idea how to handle the situation. The adults are portrayed as rather backward and dysfunctional on many levels. The only intelligent being in the film seem to be the children, who run away and create havoc. This family movie review thinks that this Moonrise Kingdom movie is a tough call and that every parent must take these warnings into consideration. Then judge for yourself whether this film is a good match for your children and family.
