Did you ever feel like your days are an endless cycle of same old, same old? If you were Cage in Edge of Tomorrow, you might get that déjà vu’ feeling again…and again…and again. Tom Cruise plays Cage, a futuristic warrior who is sent on a special mission not of his own choosing. He has been sent to battle aliens that have invaded earth. This family movie review thinks that this one might be too intense for some.

Spider-like aliens with flailing octopus-like tentacles have invaded earth. Humans are in a fight for their life. Cage is sent to help try to battle them. There is only one catch, he dies. Only instead of finding himself at the pearly gates, he finds himself back at square one. He has to live the entire day again. After this happens several times, he is finally informed that he is a secret weapon. Every time he gets killed, he is sent back to do it again, with the hopes that he will eventually figure out how to kill the aliens. This movie offers a refreshing twist on the alien invasion plot.

As far as whether this move is one for all ages is doubtful. This kids movie review recommends leaving those under the age of 10 at home. This movie is a war movie. There are lots of bullets, explosions, and scenes with dead bodies. The aliens themselves are frightening. The main character must die numerous times. He is shot point bank in the head by the female character numerous times. After the first few times, the main character makes a joke out of it and makes light of the incident. There is mild nudity. You see one of the characters fully naked from behind while he is suiting up. The movie is sprinkled throughout with colorful language and a colorful nickname for the main female character. Cage drinks at a bar and injects himself with a drug of some type.

The characters in his movie have a hard edge and are in a violent war zone. The movie tries to keep it light, even in such a hostile environment. None the less, it is still an intense movie. The body count in this one is high and many of the characters die a gruesome death. This is definitely not one for those under the age of ten, or for those of faint heart either.
