Internet Parental Controls

Internet parental controls, as well as those created for other forms of media, will generally fall under three categories. These are content filters, usage controls, and monitoring systems. They may be used together or separately.
Content filters were the first popular Internet parental controls. These restricted access to inappropriate content. Usage controls limit either the types of usage, amount, or times of it. For instance, they may limit the amount of time a child can be online. They may also prevent or limit downloading. Finally, monitoring options allow parents to keep track of what is being visited.
Often, these Internet parental controls are not appreciated solely by parents. Schools make use of them with the same intent of keeping information age-appropriate. Many offices will also place such restrictions in the interest of keeping their employees productive.
