The film is rated R for strong violence, sexuality, nudity, and crude language. This movie is a very intense adaptation of a graphic novel. Because the movie is based on superheroes parents may mistakenly believe this movie is appropriate for children but this is not an accurate perception. It’s R rating denotes that this film is not suitable for children under seventeen and even with parents present it’s not recommended to be viewed by younger audiences.
There are three DVD releases of the film, all rated R: the original release, the directors cut, and Ultimate Watchmen featuring additional pieces related to the film. The movie has also been released in Blu-ray.
