Movie Summary

Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas) and Wall Street are back in a film directed by Oliver Stone. A very current plot, Gekko partners with a rising star, Shia La Beof, on how to expose criminal investments and find the murderer of his Wall Street mentor.

Movie Review for Parents

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps is the long time coming sequel to the 1987 film Wall Street. In the original, the fictional character played by Michael Douglas bankrupts an airline company for his own profit. The sequel picks up where the old one left off, with the corporate raider being released from prison. The story is set in modern times, and like the original, it deals with current financial circumstances. In this movie, the hero teams with the ex-corporate raider on a mission to warn the world of impending global financial doom. They are also on a mission to find out who killed the ex-con’s former boss.

It is rated PG-13 for strong language and themes that are inappropriate for small children. I agree on this one. It is about corporate greed and doing anything to get ahead. It addresses the theme of corporate corruption and big name movers and shakers. It has very adult topics and themes. Yes, it has adult language too.

This is one for a baby-sitter night and some adult time alone without the kids. I really do not think that your kids would understand it, unless you happen to have one of those rare children who gets up every morning and reads Morning Star or The Wall Street Journal over their coffee before trouncing off to school to learn their times tables. If you take your kids to this one you might have to endure two hours of, “How much longer, do we have to go yet?” I think that teenagers would have a natural herding tendency to stay away from it too.
