Movie Summary

Two train operators, played by Denzel Washington and Chris Pine, team up to stop a runaway train with 8 cars filled with explosives. Their efforts are not supported by the corporate office but they decide to be heroes and stop the train by connecting to it and reversing their engines. Here is the plan, 2 handsome guys, a train moving at 80 miles per hour towards a city 150 miles away and 8 cars of poison. Do the math. Expect lots of action and a heroic outcome.

Movie Review for Parents - Unstoppable

-by Ginger

This action packed adventure tells the story of a freight company that must stop one of its trains before it spills toxic gas on a nearby city. The story was inspired by a true story. The topic of the story is frightening as the train barrels into the nearby city with a load of combustible liquids. It is more of an action/disaster film than a thriller. It builds a sense of tension and impending doom throughout the movie as the train threatens the lives of the citizens. This might make it too scary for small children.

The MPAA rated it as a PG-13 for its sequences of action and impending peril. It also contains some inappropriate language. I have to agree with them on this one. The main plot of the story makes it too scary for small children. The film shows children in danger from the runaway train. It shows trains smashing into and destroying things, and endangering animals and people. This would be too much for small children. I think that it would be OK for preteens and teenagers, but not for the younger ones. This is an adult night out for those who have small ones.
