This remake of the original 1969 classic stars Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon and Josh Brolin. If you are in the mood for a classic western, this movie is for you. Mattie Ross is a girl who must make her way in the old west. It is a gunslingin’, rough and tumble world, filled with revenge and a quest for vengeance. This cowgirl is one tough cookie and she can shoot them down with the best of them.
This movie has all of the violence and death that one would expect from a western classic. This is not a good one for the very young and like many parental guides to the movies, whether you take your kids or not depends on what they have been exposed to in their lives. If they are sensitive to scenes of people getting shot and meeting their demise in many other creative ways, this is not the movie for them. However, if they have been exposed to the classic content of westerns, this movie will be no worse than any other that they have seen.
Don’t let this cowgirl fool you, she is full of True Grit. The three marauders that end up traveling together ride from Fort Smith, Arkansas to Indian Territory (Oklahoma). Along the way, they battle many hardships and obstacles, but then again, if they didn’t few would go to see the movie. Did she get her man in the end? You will have to come see for yourself.
