Movie Summary

Ever wonder what toys do when you are not around? Toy Story is a computer-animated film, the first Disney/Pixar film to be made. It is directed by John Lasseter and features the voices of Tom Hanks and Tim Allen. The story is about Woody, a pull-string cowboy doll, who is the leader of a group of toys that belong to a boy named Andy and come to life whenever humans are not around. With his family preparing to move to a new home Andy receives a space ranger Buzz Lightyear action figure, whose impressive features soon see him replacing Woody as Andy's favorite toy. Woody is disappointed and resentful at his replacement, while Buzz does not understand that he is a toy. Through a series of events the two wind up in the home of Andy's next door neighbor who is known for torturing and destroying toys for fun. Woody and Buzz embark on a crazy adventure in an effort to return home in one piece, and before Andy moves away for good.

Movie Review for Parents - Our View

-by Allison

The characters quickly capture your heart and imagination. Its how every child imagines their toys playing – and better yet, it utilizes many classic toys that adults recall with fondness (like a slinky dog and Mr. Potato Head).

The story is simple enough for the youngest audience member, yet is sophisticated enough with just the right touches of humor to entertain the oldest family member. It will engage your imagination and that of your children in a heart-warming tale of love and loyalty.

It’s a fun tale that opened the way for Toy Story 2 and 3, which are also great family movies. Don’t miss it, Toy Story will take you “to infinity and beyond!” You may find yourself owning the complete Toy Story movie collection.
