The Way tells the tale of a father who goes on a journey across the Pyrenees Mountains to retrieve the body of his deceased son. In his grief, the father decides to go on his own journey to try to find greater meaning in life. The father goes on a pilgrimage on The Camino del Santiago trail. He meets many characters from around the world and together they discover what life is about. It is a drama that centers on the grief and loss of a father and on others who have lost someone close to them. If your family has suffered a similar loss, this movie might be too much for the children. It is a deep and emotionally moving film.

The drama in this movie touches on some deep adult emotions that might be too much for children below the age of 13. The theme of the movie centers on grief and loss. Death plays a key role in this movie. However, this family movie guide offers a word of caution. The content in this movie will still raise some serious questions and issues that parents might have to discuss with their children. It will raise some serious issues about life, death and beliefs. Parents should be advised that the movie would have to be discussed with children and that they might want to avoid taking the children along until they are old enough to understand the deeper issues within the subject matter of the film. For this reason, I would recommend that it be treated as a PG-13 movie.
