The Muppets Family Movie Review for Parents

-by Ginger

Some things are just timeless. Miss Piggy, Kermit the frog, and all the rest of the gang is back. This family move guide thinks that this movie is the Thanksgiving must see of the year. This movie is a parody of a parody that you will love. You see, this is what happens when Disney buys the rights to Jim Hensen’s classic. This movie parodies Paranormal Activity, Puss in Boots, Happy Feet, the Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn (Prawn), and of course, themselves. Jim Hensen would be so proud.

This movie was rated PG for mild rude humor. What are they afraid of?  Did they mean fart shoes? Surely not, but then again that was the only rude humor that was in the movie. Puppets do get harmed and electrocuted in this movie, maybe that is what they meant. Perhaps it was when Miss Piggy slugged the Moobets, the would be Muppet replacements. Perhaps it was when Kermit was told to have a seat on a row of toilets.  The PG rating was probably construed by a team of lawyers who need to get out of their office and laugh a little more, but that is just the opinion of this family movie guide and should not be substituted for any form of legal advice. Since when are the Muppets not Ok for all audiences?

This movie is just plain fun, and many family movie reviews are bound to agree with us on that one. The movie claims that it could not get the rights to the real Muppet theme so they had to write another one. It was quite an interesting take on a Muppet theme song. Can you find the writer of the song in the movie, he is pointed out in the trailer. He is an extra! This, and many other gags will blow your mind and twist it a little too, but then again don’t those cute, innocent, little hand puppets always do that?

This movie has many guest appearances. Kermit appears as ET, Kermit Mutant Ninja Turtles, Dancing with the Stars Entrant, and others. When everyone else is on a 3D craze, the Muppets will not follow the crowd. This movie is not in 3D, or as one character puts it, “the Muppets are still as one dimensional as they used to be.” Whether its in 3D or 1D, this Muppet movie promises to be the best yet. It is definitely on the have to see list for holidays. You will be delighted, or this family movie guide will have to send Miss Piggy to get you….and you don’t want that…so see the movie, or else.
