The Lucky One Family Movie Review for Parents

-by Ginger

The Lucky One centers around a marine who goes to North Carolina after serving three tours in Iraq. He must find a woman whom he believes was his good luck charm while he was there. This family movie review thinks that The Lucky One might not be the best choice for kids. The Lucky One was rated PG-13 for sexuality and violence. This is a good assessment of the movie contents as far as family friendliness is concerned. It is an adult movie with adult themes.

The Lucky One has intense scenes of war and violence, all portrayed in a very realistic manner. The scenes in this movie might be especially harsh for those who currently have someone serving, or who have lost someone. Many of the scenes in the opening of the movie may hit too close to home for those with certain situations in their lives. This is worth mentioning and is only fair to mention. The Lucky One movie is contemporary and deals with contemporary issues.

The Lucky One is a romance movie about fate and finding the one who is right for you. Logan finds a picture of a girl lying in amongst the rubble, no name, no clue, except a message on the back that reads, “be safe.” Logan feels that this picture saved his life and that is why he made it out alive. He decides to find her at any cost. What begins as a chance romance ends with an all-consuming love affair. Was it fate? Was it Freewill? Perhaps you will know by the end of the movie.

This endearing love affair looks wonderful and engaging for an adult audience. The Lucky One is a PG-13 for the simple reason that it deals with adult themes and adult situations. Young children would not even understand it. You would probably have them sleeping on your shoulder by the second half of the movie. They just wouldn’t get it, in the opinion of this parental guide to the movies. The Lucky One is a great movie for adults, but not necessarily for all audiences.
