            The Good Doctor is a medical thriller that will make you think twice about going into the hospital. In this twisted tale Dr. Martin Blake, a young and good looking physician has never had the respect that he felt he deserved…until he meets Diane. Diane is a young adult of 18 years old, who is hospitalized for a kidney infection. The affections of Dr. Blake make her feel good, a much needed boost to her self-confidence. As her kidney infection clears, Dr. Blake becomes afraid that he will lose her when she is discharged. What happens next is nearly unbelievable in the opinion of this family movie review. Dr. Blake begins tampering with her medicine in an attempt to keep her sick so that she cannot leave him.

            The Good Doctor movie is about a sick psychopathic obsession. It was released in 2011, but is just now being released into theaters this May. The Good Doctor was rated PG-13 for crude statements about sexual relations between physicians and patients. However, it was the overall theme of the movie that makes it inappropriate for younger audiences. It is an adult theme that has strong sexual overtones. The entire movie centers on perverse sexual relationships and obsessive infatuation that ends in harm to another. This parental guide to the movies finds The Good Doctor movie to be too disturbing for children of any age, at least anyone under the age of 18. The Good Doctor is not an R according to MPAA guidelines, but this family movie guide considers it to be close, based on the premise of the plot alone.

            Surprisingly, The Good Doctor movie is to be released in only three weeks and there are not that many trailers available, or that much advertising for that matter. The Good Doctor is a classic tale and a plot that has been live on stage, performed by Colleges around the world. This new movie version promises to be modernized, but the story is the same. One of the few trailers available can be found on YouTube and is subtitled in Japanese. It seems to be receiving more attention in Asia and Europe than in the United States.

            The Good Doctor is in the style of a murder mystery, but without the murder, unless one considers the cardiac arrest of the patient, who is of course, saved by the main character and villain of the film. This parental guide to the movies considers this movie to be every bit as twisted and disturbing as Silence of the Lambs. If you are into psychological thrillers, it might be worth the trip, but as far as the little ones are concerned, this one will only make them fear trips to the doctor more than they already do. It certainly will not help matters in this respect, so perhaps it is best to leave this one for the older members of the family clan.
