Set in a medieval village, this version of Red Riding Hood is the tale of a teen torn between two loves. The plot becomes complicated and this is not the Red Riding Hood tale that you know. The village is terrorized by a werewolf. Villagers have kept the beast at bay with animal sacrifices, but the wolf is now taking human lives. No one knows who the wolf is and everyone begins to accuse everyone else, much like the Salem Witch Trials. The tale has a Romeo and Juliet twist to it, as her true love is not the one that her family wishes for her to marry. The plot becomes more complicated as the death toll rises with each passing moon.
The true lovers must decide what to do as the werewolf plot becomes tangled in the lover’s web. As the accusations begin to fly, the werewolf is not the only threat in the village. As the plot thickens, everyone’s motives are questioned. The movie is suspenseful and the mystery of the werewolf gives it a “who done it” flare. Who will end up being the werewolf in the end, and who will be her lover? The movie keeps the audience interested as the plot begins to unfold and the answers are revealed.
This family movie review considers this to be a teen movie, definitely not suitable for children under the age of 13. It has some scenes of sensuality, but not blatant sexual content. It does have gore and violence, afterall, it is a werewolf movie. It also contains strong language, as one would expect in this type of movie. This twisted version of the classic fairy tale is true to its MPAA rating. It is targeted towards teens who are into the werewolf/vampire genre. Teens will love it, just be advised that it is not for smaller children.
