Hawaii was on the brink of civil war in 1888. The long standing royal family has lost popular support and was over thrown by a rebel party supported by the American government. The royals were exiled including the beautiful 13 year old Princess Kaiulani.
She is sent to England alone for her safety. Her rigorous education created a sense of duty that drives her to bring an end to the suffering by her people. She sets sail for America to meet President Grover Cleveland to prove her people are not savages.
