Delivery Man Movie Review for Parents

-by Ginger

The title, Delivery Man is a play on words. What would you do if you found out that you had unintentionally fathered 533 children? That is the not the end of the story, particularly when 142 of them decide to file a class action lawsuit. David must face this dilemma in the movie Delivery Man. This one does not pull any punches about the birds and the bees. This family movie review must offer a word of caution before you load the entire family in the minivan and head out to this one.

The main character, David, made some anonymous donations to a fertility clinic 20 years ago. Something went wrong in the system.  Little did he know that he would become the father of 533 children. When he is notified that 142 of then are filing a class action lawsuit to force him to reveal his identity. He must decide whether to stay hidden or face the consequences and potential child support nightmare.

This comedy makes light of sex, childbearing, paternity, and parental responsibility. The theme of the entire movie involves procreation. You might want to consider that if you see this one with the kids, you may have to be prepared to explain topics in the movie that you are not prepared to divulge at this time in your child's development. They are certain to have a few questions after this one. There is some drug material and adult language in the movie. There is a person getting punched too. However, it is the sexual content and theme of the movie that gained this one a Parental Guide to the Movies word of caution.

This movie is not meant to be a kids movie. Perhaps, older teens that are already aware of the topics in the movie may enjoy it, but this is definitely not for the younger ones. Every child and family is different in regards to what age is considered appropriate for topics about where babies come from, and you will have to decide what is right in your situation. This movie is a situation comedy that takes a look at the foibles of sperm banks and donors, but it might not be right for your entire family.
