Iron Man 2 is definitely a go-see movie, especially for comic book fans and young guys. The pre-teen boys sitting near us were mesmerized for the entire movie. This action movie offers excitement, battles, villains and heroes without profanity, nudity and gore. While maybe to intense for small children, the PG-13 rating is appropriate. The movie is engaging and fun, however as with most sequels, the initial blockbuster over shadows Iron Man 2.
The Marvel comic book hero Iron Man, comes to life in the first movie and is now openly a worldwide hero. The world embraces billionaire defense contractor, Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.), as Iron Man. Tony Stark revels in his bigger than life role and flaunts his status as Iron Man, an enforcer, guarding world peace. Tony is reluctant to share his secrets of the Iron Man armor with the US military and his health issues with Pepper Pots (Gwyneth Paltrow) his long suffering assistant. Well, not everyone is excited about Iron Man, here come the villains.
Tony’s declining health and pressure from politicians evokes continued eccentric behavior. His less than competent nemesis, Justin Hammer, (Sam Rockwell) gains access to a Russian scientist (Mickey Rourke). Rourke plays, the only person in the world able to create viable Iron Man armors, who just happens to have a grudge against the Stark family. The battles begin…… Explosive, exhilarating and jaw dropping.
Downey is magnetic as Tony Stark, over shadowing the strong cast. The “IMAX Experience” makes the action an eye-popping spectacular. Be ready to dodge exploding mechanical drones. Look forward to the next chapter, carefully set up in the final sequences of the Movie.
