Movie Review for Parents

-by Ginger

From Prada to Nada twists the rags to riches story into riches to rags. Rated a PG-13, this story tells the story of two spoiled Latino sisters who are left penniless when their father suddenly dies. They are forced to move in with their aunt in Los Angeles. Among the many surprises that they discover when their father dies is that their father had an affair before his dies and that they have a brother.

These two sisters find themselves in the barrio, transplanted into an unfamiliar world. They must learn their native language and how to get along in a world where Prada does not exist. It received a PG-13 for brief drug use and sexual situations. Young teens were not the intended audience for this movie. Older teens or young adults might find it amusing, but those who are younger might get an unexpected education about the world. The plot of the movie depends on cultural differences within the Latino community. This gives the movie some real-world redeeming value, but as a family movie review, it might be noted that this redemption is minimal. The movie is a situation comedy revolving around two very different Latino communities.
