Fast Five is your basic good guy gone bad and then back again movie. Former police officer, Brian O’Conner becomes partners with an ex-con, Dom Toretto. Now the officer is on the wrong side of the law. He helps to break the ex-con out of custody, goes on the run with him and now they are backed into a corner in Rio de Janiero. They have to pull one last job to gain their freedom and have a successful life of crime, as opposed to paying for their crimes and spending the rest of their lives in jail.

The plot gets complicated as they try to assemble an elite team of top racers. They must confront a corrupt businessman who wants them dead, but so do a lot of other people in the movie too. There is the federal agent who never misses his shot and his strike team of professionals. The hero turned bad must outsmart the best of his own kind, only now he is on the other side of the law. I think you get the picture, the Fast Five movie portrays the bad guys as the heroes and law enforcement as the bad guys. Criminals are uplifted to the role of hero in this movie.

Fast Five is set against the beautiful, sexy scenery of Rio de Janiero. This was a high-budget film, and as action films go, it delivered as promised. The filmatography was beautiful and showed the best assets that Rio had to offer, particularly those on the beach. Being a cop gone bad does have its fringe benefits. If the skimpily clad sights in Rio and the promise of $100, 000,000 are not enough to make a good cop bad, what will?

If this family movie review has not provided you enough information to make your decision about whether or not to take the kids, let me continue. This action packed plot has fast cars, hot women, and tough men. If these are not enough poor role models, the job that the Fast Five has to do involves breaking into a Police Station. Let’s not forget the scenes (plural) in the strip club. Now let’s add in multiple bullets, high body count, lots of explosions, and general mayhem and destruction. This parental guide to the movies has to consider this one not for the children. Most would probably agree.
