Diaper Covers

Diaper covers can be extremely beneficial to use with both cloth and disposable diapers.  They are cloth coverings that go over the actual diaper to prevent it from leaking and staining clothes, bedding and other items.  They are a great safety precaution to take to ensure that your infants clothing and other items stay in the best shape.  They are relatively inexpensive and can be washed and reused.  They are similar in shape and size to diapers, like diapers they usually have elastic bands that hold them sturdy around the waist and legs of your infant.

You can purchase diaper covers in an array of patterns and colors so that you are able to use them without any clothing if you want.  Many parents use the covers under their infants clothing to prevent it from being stained by leaking.  However, when paired with a simple shirt it can be used to cover the diaper and appears like any other article of clothing.   They are also great for infants who are experiencing diaper rash.  Because they are extremely loose when they are not paired with a diaper when they are worn alone they promote air circulation and prevent chafing.  Using a cover can be more beneficial then letting your child go without a diaper because it will prevent messes and staining that can be caused when no diaper is used.

Some common reasons to use a diaper cover are:

  • To prevent damage that can be caused by diaper leakage
  • To add an extra layer to the diaper to protect clothing
  • As an additional clothing article
  • To make the diaper appear more stylish
  • To aid in the treatment of diaper rash
  • To aid in preventing children from removing their diaper
